Template
A copyable account brief template: what to include before a cold call or demo so reps walk in prepared instead of researching live.
A rep who opens a call with just a company name is doing live research in front of the prospect, badly. A rep with a one-page account brief prepared in advance opens with context, and it shows in the first ninety seconds of the call. Here's a template you can copy directly.
| Section | What goes here |
|---|---|
| Company snapshot | Name, industry, size, HQ location, one sentence on what they do |
| Fit rationale | The 2-3 specific reasons this account matches your ICP, not "good fit," the actual criteria it hits |
| Timing signal | Anything recent and relevant: funding, a leadership hire, a tool adoption, a public statement about a relevant priority |
| Likely stakeholder | The title (and name, if known) of who probably owns this decision |
| Conversation starters | One or two openers tied directly to the fit rationale or timing signal, specific to this company, not generic |
| Risks / open questions | Anything that could disqualify them, so the rep can probe for it early instead of finding out on call four |
Nordvent Industrial Supply · Wholesale trade · Sweden · 51-200 employees
Fit: Matches ICP on industry and size; uses a CRM we integrate with directly.
Signal: Posted a new "Sales Operations Manager" role three weeks ago.
Likely stakeholder: Head of Sales or the incoming Sales Ops Manager once hired.
Opener: "Saw you're building out a sales ops function, that's usually when target-account tracking becomes a real headache. How are you handling it today?"
Risk: Could already have an internal tool in progress given the new hire, worth asking directly early.
A one-page brief gets read before the call. A three-page research doc gets skimmed once, if that. The discipline is fitting the essentials into something scannable in under a minute, cut detail before you cut structure.
A brief is generated after a company clears your fit score threshold, it's the last step before a rep actually picks up the phone. Building it by hand for every account works at low volume and becomes the bottleneck as your target account list grows, at which point automating the research step (while keeping this exact structure) is usually the next move.
Bring your criteria to a live call. We'll run a real scoring pass while you watch, not a slide deck.
